Verified engineers

Checked before the first job. Checked again at your door.

A trades directory lists engineers. CallOut checks every one of them, properly, and keeps checking.

Scanning a Gas Safe card

Eleven checks before anyone reaches your door

Every engineer passes all of these before CallOut offers them a single job.

  1. 1

    Phone number

Verified with a one-time code, so every call and message is tied to a real, reachable person.

  2. 2

    Identity

Photo ID and a live selfie, matched by an identity provider. No ID, no account.

  3. 3

    Proof of address

Their address is matched against UK records. If it can't be, they send a document and a person checks it.

  4. 4

    Their face, enrolled

A live face check at sign-up, matched to the verified ID. This is the face checked at every door.

  5. 5

    Gas Safe registration

For gas work: the card is scanned and checked against the Gas Safe Register, including what they're qualified to work on.

  6. 6

    Every qualification

ACS certificates, electrical cards, plumbing qualifications and more. Each one is checked with whoever issued it, sometimes by phone.

  7. 7

    Public liability insurance

The policy is confirmed with the insurer directly, by call or email, not just a photo of a certificate.

  8. 8

    Work history

Where they've worked, checked against payroll records or backed up with a payslip or contract.

  9. 9

    Their business

The trading name and business details they work under.

  10. 10

    An interview

A ten-minute interview on camera. A person at CallOut watches it and decides. AI never approves an engineer.

  11. 11

    A practice job

A full pretend job that teaches every safety step and feature before their first real one.

Every check, as the engineer does it

Four stages, all in the app, before anyone reaches your door.

  1. Scan your cards
    1

    Scan your cards

Gas Safe, ACS, ECS or WaterSafe: point the camera, and each one is read and checked with whoever issued it.

  2. Insurance, confirmed
    2

    Insurance, confirmed

Photograph the schedule. CallOut confirms the cover with the insurer itself.

  3. Prove it's you
    3

    Prove it's you

Photo ID and a live selfie, verified by Didit, then your address matched to UK records.

  4. Set up the door check
    4

    Set up the door check

The face that will be checked at every door, enrolled once. Then a short interview, and a person approves you.

Every check has evidence

The insurer's confirmation, the register page, the certifier's answer: CallOut keeps the evidence behind every check, and a person reviews anything unclear.

Verification evidence in CallOut Operations

No address match? A person checks

Most addresses match UK records in seconds. If one can't be, the engineer sends a bill or statement and a person at CallOut checks it.

No match? A person checks a document

A person decides

Every engineer has a ten-minute interview on camera. A person at CallOut watches it, with the evidence from every check beside it, and decides.

The reviewer's view: the interview beside the evidence

And at every single job

The face enrolled at sign-up is the face checked live at every door, and your code starts the job. A lent account or a swapped engineer simply can't get in.

Questions

Does CallOut check engineers more than once?

Yes. Insurance and registrations are tracked to their renewal dates, and the face check happens at every door, on every job.

Who decides whether an engineer is approved?

A person at CallOut. Automated checks gather the evidence; they never approve someone on their own.

Can I see an engineer's checks?

You see who's coming and that they're verified. Partners like insurers and housing associations can see the evidence behind each check.
