Five things to have ready before an engineer arrives

A few minutes of preparation means a faster fix and fewer second visits.

  • A photo of the problem. The boiler's display, the leak or the tripped switch. Engineers who see it beforehand arrive with the right part more often.
  • The make and model. It is usually on a label on the front or underneath the boiler.
  • A clear path. Clear the way to the boiler, the stopcock or the consumer unit, and move anything stored in front of them.
  • Pets and parking. Keep pets in another room, and tell the engineer where they can park.
  • Your door code. On CallOut, you give the engineer a four-digit code at the door, after their face has been checked. It is on your lock screen as they arrive.
